After you have created the necessary projection groups, you can place the projected containers into vessel bays to create a preplan, as requested by the line operator.
You place projected containers by using the same techniques as planning real containers, that is by selecting and flowing. Instead of selecting containers from lists or views, however, you select the projection group in the Projections window. Then you flow the projected containers into the scan or section view of the appropriate vessel bay. When you select and place projected containers into a vessel bay, the selection counter on the toolbar displays the total number of projected containers in the pool.
When using PWP to create a preplan for the vessel, the process is similar. The difference is that with PWP, XPS automatically sequences projections according to a bay’s slot sequence pattern and associates projections with the correct work queue. For details, see the manual Navis N4: Vessel Administrator and User Guide.
To be able to view the projected containers in the vessel bay, you need to set the scan or section view to the Preplan time frame. For more information about time frames, see the manual Navis N4: Basics.
To place projected containers onto the vessel:
Open a vessel scan or a vessel section view.
In the vessel scan or vessel section view, set the time frame to Preplan.
From the Vessel menu, select Projections to open the Projections window (on page 1).
In the Projections window, select a projection group.
From the toolbar, select a flow tool.
In a vessel scan or vessel section view, drag the pointer across the bay to flow in the projected containers.
The projected containers appear in the scan or section view, and XPS updates the Pool column in the Projections window to show the number of containers that remain in the projection group.
